The proof is in the photos, which highlight the music, food, and atmosphere in vivid detail. Here’s their collection of beautiful, dynamic shots from the 2018 edition of the world's greatest music festival.

Jazz Fest Shout Outs!

WWOZ would like to thank everyone who made this year's Jazz Fest (including our live broadcast) such a huge success. WWOZ’s Jazz Fest activities involved every member of our staff and nearly 200 volunteers over the seven days of the festival. On any individual day we had over 70 people on location at the Fair Grounds, between the Brass Pass Hospitality Tent, Will Call, Broadcast Operations and Programming, Mango Freeze, and Administration. Shout outs all around!

Tricentennial Music Moments

Our celebration of New Orleans and its 300th birthday continues with our series of Tricentennial Music Moments on-air and online. Our most recent installments look at the early days of Jazz Fest: one focuses on performances aboard the sidewheel steamboat S.S. President, and the other examines the Heritage Fair. Stream all of our Tricentennial Music moments on demand and learn more about the stories and people that have shaped the Crescent City.

Takin' It to the Streets: Three Events This Weekend

This coming weekend is a big one for Takin' It to the Streets, WWOZ's coverage of Mardi Gras Indian and Social Aid & Pleasure Club events. There are two second lines at 1pm Sunday on the east bank: Divine Ladies and Zulu. Also at 1pm Sunday, at McDonough Park just over the bridge, it's Westbank Super Sunday. Check out Takin' It to the Streets for all the latest.

The Festivals of Summer, 2018

Even though "festival season" is technically over, there's a whole summer of great music and other kinds of fun just ahead. Check out our list of summertime music festivals and other diversions in and around New Orleans and other parts of Louisiana. Two festivals to note in particular: the French Market's Creole Tomato Festival, June 9-10, and the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation's Louisiana Cajun-Zydeco Festival, June 23-24.

Jorge Eats!

In lieu of a recipe this month, we wanted to share some food photos, while Jazz Fest is still fresh in our minds. With 80-some food booths, each having ~3-4 menu choices, there are literally hundreds of food options at Jazz Fest and only 7 days a year to explore them. WWOZ's Operations Director, Jorge Fuentes, worked on putting a dent in that bucket list during this year's fest, as these photos show. It's a hard job, but someone's gotta do it.
