Downtown Super Sunday

Sunday, April 2, 2023 - 1:00pm

The Circle of Chiefs annual "Indian Cha Wa" Downtown Super Sunday will be held April 2 at 1pm, featuring P-Town Steppers and Lady P-Town Steppers, Original Black Seminole Baby Dolls, Big 6 Brass Band, and more.

The procession of intricate bead work, feathers and harmonious drumming and chants start at Orleans & Moss (Bayou St. John).

There are three Super Sunday Mardi Gras celebrations that happen each year-- Uptown, Downtown, and Westbank. Super Sunday is an annual gathering of Mardi Gras Indian Tribes celebrating their heritage and culture in a magnificent display of hand-sewn suits, singing, dancing and chanting. The Indians congregate on picturesque Bayou St. John before the start of the parade and suits are displayed for photos and up close viewing.
