1) It's the Louisiana Cajun Zydeco Fest in Armstrong Park this weekend! This year's headliners are Grammy Award winners Lost Bayou Ramblers and Dwayne Dopsie & the Zydeco Hellraisers, plus many others excellent performers! Check out the full lineup for this free festival happening Saturday and Sunday. We'll also be hosting a live preview performance from Bruce Daigrepont in our studio on Friday, June 22 at noon.

"This festival contains the greatest collection of Cajun and zydeco artists for any festival in the city and perhaps the state." -Charles Laborde, co-host of Lache Pas, the Cajun and zydeco show on WWOZ each Sunday 12-2p

2) It's the last second line parade of the 2017-18 season this Sunday! Step out with the Uptown Swingers at 3:30p. Route sheet and more details available at WWOZ's Takin' It To The Streets.

3) The NOLA Caribbean Festival is happening Saturday and Sunday, 3-10p, at Central City BBQ (1201 S. Rampart). The festival showcases Caribbean cuisine, music, and culture while highlighting New Orleans' deeply rooted cultural connections as the Caribbean's northern-most city! There will be music, a dance stage, food, bars, salsa tent, kids corner, arts/crafts vendors, and more.

4) A few recent highlights released by our video team: Sunpie & the Louisiana Sunspots live at WWOZ on Thursday, the second line following Tee-Eva's funeral, and Kermit Ruffins & the BBQ Swingers performing 'Marie.'

5) The lineup for Satchmo Summer Fest, happening August 3-5, came out this week! Eight acts are making their Satchmo Summer Fest debut in 2018. Of special note, Irma Thomas will perform Sunday, August 5. "Mr. Armstrong was an influence on a lot of young children, including me," she says. "I never thought I would be in the business but then saw him as King Zulu when I was nine years old. That parade passed right in front of my house and left such an impression!" Get more details on the rest of the lineup, including Yoshio Toyama, Soul Rebels, Corey Henry, and Donald Harrison, Jr.
