1) Big thank you to everyone who helped make our Spring Pledge Drive a success over the last week and a half! WWOZ has been nonprofit, volunteer-driven, and listener-supported for over 35 years. Here's to (at least) 35 more! We had some amazing live performances in the studio over the last 11 days. Check out the videos here

2) Two events to honor the late Allison Miner are happening at the Jazz & Heritage Center this weekend. On Friday, March 24 at 7p, there will be a screening of Reverence, a documentary about Allison Miner. A Q&A session with director Amy Nesbit will follow. Reverence is a close look at the life and work of a woman who spent her life "struggling to unite people of different races, classes, and genders through the healing power of music." It first premiered in New Orleans in 1997.

On Saturday, March 25, there will be a panel discussion about Allison's contributions to New Orleans music and culture, moderated by Helen Regis, with panelists Mary Len Costa, Stafford Agee, Amy Nesbit, and Jonathan Kaslow. This event is an opportunity to hear from those who knew Miner well and worked with her closely. It also will be an opportunity for audience members to share their own remembrances.

3) Starting on Thursday, March 30, the New Orleans Jazz Museum at the Old U.S. Mint will present "Pete Fountain: A Life Half-Fast," an exhibition commemorating the life of Pete Fountain and his contributions to the world of music. An opening will be held Thursday at 6p.

4) We'll be broadcasting and video streaming live from YLC Wednesday at the Square featuring performances from Marc Broussard and Kristin Diable on Wednesday, March 29 from 5-8p.

5) We announced the lineup for Piano Night 2017 earlier this week! WWOZ Piano Night: Back To The Roots is happening Monday, May 1. Performers include Ellis Marsalis, Marcia Ball, Joe Krown, David Torkanowsky, Tom McDermott, Josh Paxton, John Gros, Tom Worrel, and Al "Lil Fats" Jackson. Tickets are available now.
