One week ago today, the Black Masking Indians of New Orleans debuted their new suits for the year. A large congregation gathered outside the Backstreet Cultural Museum at various points throughout the day to celebrate the spirit of Mardi Gras Day within their community while, a block away, other Indians made their appearance along N. Claiborne Avenue.
