Victory Youth Training Academy will hold a star-studded concert that features some of the city’s finest musicians. The concert benefits Victory’s long established and highly successful program, which uses the disciplines of baseball to help the city’s underserved youth succeed in the Game of Life.

“Just as the major leagues develop their minor leaguers, Victory develops the youth we serve and helps them achieve their full potential,” says Coach Melvin Howard, Victory’s president/founder.  “This is an important fundraising event for us and we want to encourage all attendees to bring their checkbooks as I will surely be asking them for donations. With the money raised at this event, we will be able to continue and better serve all the very deserving students we work with in our program.”

Headlining the event is Michael Ward, who has taken the violin to another level in Jazz, Funk, and R&B. With five CD’s to his credit, and more than 100 recordings, Ward has emerged as one of the leading studio violinist in the business working with such artists as B.B. King and Wynton Marsalis. For more than 28 years, New Orleans-based Ward has owned his craft through the great musicians and the soulful sounds of New Orleans music. Whether you like Jazz, R&B, Funk, Blues, Cajun, or Country & Western, Ward brings your listening experience to higher heights and deeper depths of musical enjoyment.

The concert will also feature local favorite Blake Amos, harpist Sarah E. Burke and singer/songwriter Aidan Duffy. Also, look for the DJ stylings of Coach Mel.

The event on Saturday April, 2 will be held at Langston Hughes Academy’s Gym, which is located at 3519 Trafalgar St. Tickets are $10 at the door and doors open at6:30 p.m.
