The more experienced among us advise the novices to begin serious training in February or mid-March at the latest. Each week you should shorten your sleep schedule by one hour, so that by the time you hit Jazz Fest, all-nighters will come naturally. We've got a jam-packed lineup for our Jazz Fest broadcasts. Read on for all the details.
Let's not forget WWOZ's own Piano Night at the House of Blues on Monday, April 28th, 8 p.m.-`til. Piano Night has two stages, one featuring acoustic pianists and the other with some of New Orleans' most famous back-up musicians playing alongside a never-ending parade of the city's finest pianists paying tribute to New Orleans' great piano tradition.
All during this festival time, you should stay tuned to WWOZ's 90.7 as the fanatico-aficionado show hosts bring their best game right through the festival season climax. Like I say: sleep is not an option.
Yours In A Festival Spirit,
Our April 25th tribute to New Orleans piano magic at the House of Blues is almost sold out, but you can still order your tickets on our website if you hurry. Some of the pianists this year include Tom McDermott, Jon Cleary, Marcia Ball, John Gros and Eddie Bo. You can see pictures and read bios of many of the performers on our Piano Night page. We will be broadcasting it live as part of our extensive Jazz Fest 2008 coverage.
Posters & T-Shirts for Piano Night 2008
This year's limited edition Piano Night poster is by returning artist Lionel Milton, our 2006 and 2007 artist. Each full color poster measures 11 x 17. The t-shirt design is the same as the poster.
WWOZ thanks our generous Piano Night 2008 sponsors!
New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival
Design your own Jazz Fest cubes schedule on the `OZ website. We will be broadcasting 32 performances over the course of seven days this year.
During the festival, you will be able to see pictures of the groups we are broadcasting and live blogs from our hosts and others in the Hospitality Tent.
Pick Up Your Brass Pass
If you are coming to the Fest, then there's no way better to do it than with a Brass or Over Pass. If you have previously ordered one, save yourself some time and pick up your Passes BEFORE Jazz Fest.
Stop by the WWOZ offices located at 1008 North Peters on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday — April 22, 23 & 24 — between 12:00 noon to 6:00 p.m. After that you will need to go to WWOZ WILL CALL at the Sauvage St. entrance at the Jazz Fest Fairgrounds. WWOZ WILL CALL will be open on the days of the Festival from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Please bring your picture I.D.
2008 Big Easy Awards

Recipe for Crawfish Season
It's that time of year, and the crawfish couldn't be any better. Check out our recipes — this time there's one for a crawfish boil.
If you'd rather kick back and let someone else do the cooking, you'll find lots of great crawfish dishes to eat at Jazz Fest.
