We hope you can join us for our annual fund-raiser, WWOZ Piano Night, which will happen Monday, May 1 at 7pm, House of Blues, New Orleans. The 29th edition of Piano Night is subtitled "Back to the Roots" and for good reason. This Piano Night will return to its concept: solo pianists, playing one at a time on the main stage at the HOB. As usual, Piano Night will feature a great line-up of players, each of whom is a torch-bearer of the New Orleans Piano Tradition. They include Ellis Marsalis, Marcia Ball, Joe Krown, David Torkanowsky, Tom McDermott, Josh Paxton, John Gros, Tom Worrell, and Al "Lil Fats" Jackson.

Starting Tomorrow: Jazz Fest

Jazz Fest 2017 kicks off at the Fair Grounds tomorrow, April 28, and as ever, WWOZ will have strong presence! The pop and rock stars get disproportionate amounts of attention, but Jazz Fest's true character is all about the hundreds jazz, blues, and folk artists, many of them Louisiana-based, that grace its dozen stages. This year's fest also features a celebration of Cuban culture, with food items like ropa vieja and tostones, and musicians like Daymé Arocena and Pedrito Martinez, both of whom are slated for our live broadcast (see below).

No matter where you live, summer is barbecue season. These savory, spicy ribs, from a recipe by WWOZ Piano Night artist Joe Krown, fit the bill. It's his contribution to That Sounds Good: A Cookbook Celebrating 30 Years of WWOZ.
