We're happy to announce that WWOZ Piano Night will happen Monday, May 1 at 7p, House of Blues, New Orleans. Subtitled "Back to the Roots," the 29th edition of Piano Night will be a return to the original concept: solo pianists, playing one at a time on the main stage at the HOB. As ever, Piano Night will feature a splendid line-up of players, including Ellis Marsalis, Marcia Ball, Joe Krown, David Torkanowsky, Tom McDermott, Josh Paxton, John Gros, Tom Worrel, and Al "Lil Fats" Jackson.

French Quarter Fest, America's largest free festival, returns April 6-9. And since we reside in the midst of this fest (we're located in the Quarter), we'll again be live broadcasting some of its best acts. The broadcast lineup includes, among others, Meschiya Lake, the Tin Men, Corey Henry's Treme Funktet, Colin Lake, King James & the Special Men, The Soul Rebels.

If you bought a Brass Pass for 2017, thank you very much! You can pick it up at the Louisiana Music Factory, 421 Frenchmen St, during French Quarter Fest, April 7-9, 11a to 7p. We'll also have Brass Pass pickup at the station (1008 N.Peters, 2nd floor) April 25-27 from 11a to 6p each day. Starting April 28, pick up Brass Passes at the Sauvage Street entrance to Jazz Fest, 11a to 6p.

We're seeking to fill our currently vacant General Manager position. Our GM works with staff and volunteers to ensure that our Board's policies are carried out, that broadcast and digital operations are in keeping with the station's mission statement, and that all legal requirements are met. The GM is responsible for the station's financial well-being and for facilitating a vision for the station's long-term viability. Jazz Fest starts April 28, just three weeks from Friday— woohoo! The cubes were released last week so you can start planning your days at the Fair Grounds now. We'll see you there and, if you’re not able to make it this year, we’ll be back broadcasting live from various stages everyday of the festival. Once the broadcast details are worked out, we'll post all the info on wwoz.org.
