Tulane University - McAlister Auditorium
McAlister Auditorium was designed and built in 1940 by Favrot and Reed architects. The auditorium holds 1,900 people under a hovering concrete dome spanning 110 feet. Original Art Deco detailing remains on both the interior and exterior. Sculptor Angela Gregory executed the pelican over the proscenium. Today, the auditorium is used for commencements, concerts, major speakers, and student and guest performances.
