The Newcomb Music Department's concert band, symphony orchestra, and jazz ensembles frequently perform here, as well as classical piano and guitar concert series. Dixon Concert Hall is also home to the critically acclaimed Summer Lyric Theater and Friends of Music Concert Series.

The Louis Moreau Institute, now in its ninth season, is excited to present two concerts during its 2023 festival featuring Institute Artists Bree Ahern, Giancarlo Latta, Theodosia Roussos, and Amy Tan accompanied by Assistant Artistic Director Wesley Ducote. This year's festival, with concerts on March 15th and 19th, will feature world premieres of three works by composers with ties to the Crescent City. Dennis H Miller premieres his latest video works, In the Distance, in collaboration with New Orleans pianist and composer Lawrence Sieberth, and Evolver: Three AnImated Sketches. The festival will close out with the premiere of As a Watcher on the World, the latest work for oboe, piano, and string trio by New Orleans composer Stephen Montalvo.
