A portion of the proceeds for the night will benefit New Orleans Musicians' Clinic.
The evening will feature performances by Irma Thomas, Ivan Neville, Deacon John, John Boutte, Jon Cleary, Walter “Wolfman” Washington, Kermit Ruffins, James Andrews, Stanton Moore, Anjelika “Jelly” Joseph, Theresa Andersson, Oscar Rossignoli and more. Serving as the backbone for the evening, George Porter, Jr. will be joined by Herlin Riley, David Torkanowsky, Kyle Roussel, Chris Adkins, Tony Dagradi, Brad Walker, Tracy Griffin, Jeff Albert, Phillip Manuel and Jolynda “Kiki” Chapman.
As a producer, songwriter, arranger and performer, there is no New Orleans artist with a career more prolific than Allen Toussaint. Inspired by Professor Longhair as a young man, he championed and carried the spirit of Fess’ music with him throughout his life. A National Medal of Arts recipient and inductee in both The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Songwriter’s Hall of Fame, Toussaint’s goal was to write at least one song every day of his life. He created a catalog of thousands of tunes and worked with artists including Paul Simon,
Dr. John, Elvis Costello, Patti LaBelle, Paul McCartney, The Pointer Sisters, Bonnie Raitt, and countless others.
