#BAM Black American Music is a statement and musical movement born from well respected Grammy award winning artist, Nicholas Payton's questioning of the legitimacy of the term jazz. It is a statement which attempts to bring the cultural and ancestral roots back to the music of New Orleans, while abandoning the corporate terminology which has served to separate Black America from the art which they generated. The #BAM JAM is a celebration of the very music that placed New Orleans on the map and a reminder of the actual roots of that music.
