Mama May Have: A documentary retrospective by Jayna Jenson and Devin Saurus

Friday, May 7, 2021 - 6:00pm

St. Coffee, 2718 St. Claude Avenue

A documentary featuring photographs of several New Orleans families alongside zines of candid interviews documenting the last year of parenting amidst the Covid-19 crisis in the Crescent City. The show will spotlight the intense challenges of parenting during a global crisis as seen through photography and written word, touching on the broken childcare and education system, the lack of support for single parents, and the disjointed healthcare system. A heavy emphasis has been placed on the importance of the current social justice movements and the urgency of antiracist work while raising children in New Orleans. Mama May Have illustrates how parents and children are shaping the future in an unsteady and unstable world as the Covid-19 pandemic lingers on. There will be food and beverage available for purchase with all proceeds to benefit NOLA Community Fridges.
