The New Orleans Bayou Steppers, the social aid and pleasure club that gave rise to the campaign for peace known as SilenceIsViolence, parades again this Sunday, April 2.

Parade organizers are asking all attendees to Wear White for Peace.

“The New Orleans Bayou Steppers and SilenceIsViolence get to the heart of what the social aid and pleasure club tradition is all about,” said Parade Chief Percy Ellis. “We celebrate our community, in a way that also gives back to our community.”

The group will parade along Bayou St. John in Mid-City, a neighborhood afflicted by a recent rash of crime and violence. Parade proceeds will benefit the programs of SilenceIsViolence, which focus on wraparound support and advocacy for victims of violence, as well as holistic violence intervention.
