The Gibson Malone Band will be taking their music on the road this summer to its roots in New Orleans, Louisiana, in the name of embracing and tracing the blues and jazz music which has influenced the band’s sound, while raising awareness and funds for a cause that is close to home for the band. Why: Ike Baer-Sanft, a junior at the Berklee College of Music, was diagnosed in 2023 with mouth cancer. After going through chemotherapy and surgery, Ike was happy to announce himself cancer-free. However, in early 2024, after the return of Ike’s cancer, he decided to begin a new chemotherapy treatment. Ike has been tolerating the treatments remarkably well, and during his recent sans was assured the treatment is beginning to work to reduce his cancer. We are hopeful and confident that it all continues to go in this forward direction. Friends of his in the Gibson Malone Band were motivated to bring one of his top bucket list items to life -- to travel across the US on a busking tour and share an unforgettable experience together at some of the most iconic music cities and venues in the world. Starting at the Wandering Barman in Brooklyn, the tour will take the band to Charleston, Nashville, and New Orleans. At busking stops along the way, local distributors will provide special events and tastings of Wandering Barman, all contributing to the experience and fundraise for both the band’s tour and Ike’s continued treatment.
