For many years, the great New Orleans piano player, composer, and educator Ellis Marsalis performed almost every Friday night at 8pm at Snug Harbor on Frenchmen Street.

Ellis Marsalis passed on April 1 of this year.  For three months following, Snug Harbor hosted the online E-Day Memorial Series, with different performers paying him tribute each week, always on Friday night at 8pm. The videos from the E-Day Memorial Series tributes are still available on Snug Harbor's Facebook page.

Now that the E-Day Memorial Series has come to a close, here at WWOZ we're paying our own tribute to Ellis Marsalis and his long-running Friday night engagement at Snug Harbor.

This Friday, July 10 at 8pm, we're re-broadcasting Ellis Marsalis performing live at Snug Harbor on Friday, January 14, 2000.  This show first aired live on WWOZ and is now preserved at the Archive of the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation.

Click here to listen live. The set will also be available after-the-fact on our 2-week archive. To access it, click that link then fast forward to the second hour.
