Ellis Marsalis: Piano Night 2018 special feature

Published on: March 27th, 2018

WWOZ Piano Night is returning to House of Blues Monday, April 30! As the city’s premier event celebrating the great pianists of New Orleans, this year’s Piano Night is dedicated to the memory and legacy of Fats Domino. Tickets for the event at House of Blues are available now.

Piano Night 2018 will feature some of the most notable and beloved pianists of our time, including: John Autin, Marcia Ball, Jon Cleary, Davell Crawford, Henry Gray, Al "Lil Fats" Jackson, Joe Krown, Ellis Marsalis, Tom McDermott, Bob Seeley, and David Torkanowsky.

In anticipation of this sure-to-be fantastic evening, we'll be previewing some of this year's artists. In 2018, we are happy to welcome Ellis Marsalis back to the Piano Night stage. Mr. Marsalis is the patriarch of the first family of New Orleans jazz and a local and international treasure. As a bandleader, educator, and NEA Jazz Master, he is regarded as the premier modern jazz pianist in New Orleans. Check out his performance of 'Twelve's It' at Jazz Fest 2012 below.
