1) Satchmo SummerFest starts on Friday, August 3 and we've got an entire week of previews coming your way!

Monday, July 30 at noon: Nayo Jones Experience live at WWOZ
Tuesday, July 31 on the Trad Jazz show (9-11a): Satchmo Summer Fest staff will join us in the studio to talk about what's special at this year's festival
Tuesday, July 31 at noon: Charmaine Neville live at WWOZ
Wednesday, August 1 at noon: Mahogany Brass Band live at WWOZ
Thursday, August 2 at 9:30a: Ricky Riccardi of the Louis Armstrong House Museum will join host Sally Young on the air
Thursday, August 2 at 10p: Yoshio Toyama live from Snug Harbor

2) The new Professor Longhair Centennial exhibit, 'Me Got Fiyo,' opens Thursday, August 2 at the New Orleans Jazz Museum. Fess would've made 100 on December 19 of this year. This exhibit celebrates all things Fess starting with his origins and development to his early hits such as 'Tipitina,' 'Mardi Gras In New Orleans,' and 'Big Chief' to his 1970s comeback, his untimely death, and his continual presence in New Orleans since then.

3) Catch Honey Island Swamp Band and Sonic Bloom at Foundation Free Fridays at Tipitina's this week! Show starts at 10p.

4) Rewind! 5) Looking to play some of the biggest festivals in the country next year? Jazz Fest and French Quarter Fest are both now accepting applications to play at their 2019 festivals. The French Quarter Fest application deadline is September 1. Jazz Fest application deadline is October 1.
