1) Congo Square Rhythms Festival is happening Saturday and Sunday. Brass bands, the 2018 Class Got Brass competition, African dance ensembles, Mardi Gras Indians, and more will be hitting the stage at this historic site. Both days begin with a drum circle at 11a and end with brass bands in the evening-- Rebirth on Saturday and Hot 8 on Sunday.

2) Los Islenos Fiesta is also happening this weekend, with a 2-day festival being held in St. Bernard at the Los Islenos Museum & Village. Traditional music and food are the highlight of the festival. Check out more information about this unique festival

3) VIP Ladies & Kids hit the streets on Sunday at noon! Get the route sheet and hear the interview at WWOZ's Takin' It To The Streets

4) We had a lot going on at WWOZ this week! Check out the video streams from Rebirth, Ghalia & Mama's Boys, and the KIPP Believe Jazz Band on School Groove. Or, tune in Friday afternoon as we welcome Water Seed into the studio around 1p.

5) We're celebrating 30 years of our annual WWOZ Piano Night this year! The 2018 lineup was announced on Thursday, and it's a good one. Join us Monday, April 30 to celebrate the great Fats Domino with Jon Cleary, Marcia Ball, Ellis Marsalis, Henry Gray, Davell Crawford, Tom McDermott, Joe Krown, Bob Seeley, David Torkanowsky, Al “Lil Fats” Jackson, and John Autin.
