Shadowy figures in darkened corners, lurking strangers, Unknown creatures stalk the forgotten rooms and evanescent corridors of the mind.. Such is the currency of the horror film. Of the particularly human art of scaring ourselves. Halloween.

Down here in the Steamy South,. The Bible Belt, some frown on Halloween as Satanic. They even made Halloween illegal on Sundays in Livingston Parish, where local laws forbid the observance of Halloween on a Sunday.

Hallowmas, Samhain, a twilight of the worlds, a time to acknowledge the dead, and the cycle of life. A time to remember, like the Skeleton Masker of Carnival Tradition says to frighten the children, “You Next!”. Join me, for a brief interlude into the darker side of the blues, murder ballads, plus a few crazed corkers.
