1) A busy holiday season is heating up! Krewe of Jingle, New Orleans official holiday parade, rolls Saturday, December 3 through the CBD and Warehouse District, starting at 1p. Get the route sheet from Downtown NOLA.

2) LUNA Fête returns to Lafayette Square December 7-10 with an arts market and amazing light shows on Gallier Hall each night at 6p, 7p, 8p, and 9p. This unique event is a visionary initiative created by the Arts Council New Orleans in 2014 to utilize New Orleans's iconic landscape as the canvas for outdoor, public artworks created with light and technology. This multi-day celebration features illuminated installations, digital sculptures, video-mapping projections, and art animated by technology, intended to engage and inspire audiences of all ages.

3) Two second line parades this Sunday! The Dumaine St. Gang and Westbank Steppers will start their respective routes at noon. Get the route sheets from WWOZ's Takin' It To The Streets.

4) Fan the Flame is hosting its inaugural event tonight at Hotel Storyville. Fan the Flame is a new initiative dedicated to helping local New Orleans musicians and dancers succeed beyond the clubs of New Orleans. This group aims to send talented artists overseas and help them find adequate representation in order to continue bringing New Orleans music to the world for coming generations.

5) Canal Street has long been an important corridor in New Orleans. Saturday from 10:30a-12p, The Historic New Orleans Collection will host a lecture on the history of Christmas shopping along this historic street. From the 1850s through its 20th-century heyday and to the present, John Magill will take attendees on a nostalgic trip down the famous thoroughfare. The illustrated presentation will examine variety and department stores—including D. H. Holmes and Maison Blanche—local retailers such as Adler’s and Rubenstein’s and the holiday decorations that lined the famous shopping street. Markets, Santa Claus, elves, the coming of Christmas trees to the United States and the ever-popular Mr. Bingle will all be discussed.

Lagniappe: there are lots of art markets happening across New Orleans in the coming weeks but only one just for kids to sell their wares. Encourage the next generation of budding entrepreneurs by perusing their offerings at the Third Annual Kid Market at Clouet Gardens on Saturday, December 3 from 12-3p.
