To paraphrase Ernie K. Doe, “all music comes from Louisiana or Mississippi” which is where Bogue Chitto (Choctaw for ‘big river’) draws its inspiration. 

A bluegrass country funk band out of Bulbancha (New Orleans) Louisiana, Bogue Chitto features original compositions by John DePriest in styles from Hill Country blues, bluegrass, Louisiana French, and country, all with a funky backbone. Bogue Chitto has toured around the Southeast, playing festivals, fairs, and clubs. The band was nominated for the Best Emerging Artist Award in 2022 by OffBeat Magazine, and in Fall 2023 organized and performed at the first Bulbancha Bluegrass and Old Time Festival.
