Highlights from the Spring 2009 Pledge Party

Our 2009 Spring Pledge Party has been an amazing trip. Right from Day 1 we had incredible live performances and a whole lotta fun. Many thanks to everyone who helped make it a success! We hope you will enjoy these photos of some of the highlights.

Day 1 — Wednesday, March 4

Day 2 — Thursday, March 5

On the second day of our 2009 Spring Pledge Party, the party was still going strong, with another great live performance from WWOZ's own David Torkanowsky with some very special guests on his afternoon blues and R&B show, The Blues Ball. Drummer extraordinaire Brian Blade also stopped by our studio during Sondra Bibb's Jazz from the Market show.

Day 3 — Friday, March 6

On day three of our 2009 Spring Pledge Party, we started to hit our groove. Bob French hosted a live performance by Liese's Living Room & the Village Copper Thieves. The band featured Boyanna Trayanova on percussion, Adam Crochet on dobro, Thomas McDonald on bass, and Liese Dettmer on 12-string guitar.

Day 4 — Saturday, March 7

Day four, and we're still rockin' like Dopsie. Our champion volunteers and staff led the charge toward our membership goal, while reedman Ray Moore and Brasilliance! jazzed up the Brasilian music show, Tudo Bem.

Day 6 — Monday, March 9

We kicked off the second half of our Pledge Party with trombonist Rick Trolsen and his group, Neslort.

Day 8 — Wednesday, March 11

Big D hosted another one of his rockin' blues jams on his Wednesday afternoon blues and R&B show, "Sittin' at the Crossroads."

Day 10 — Friday, March 13

Our Spring Pledge Party ended on a high note, with the New Wave Brass Band performing classics like "Darktown Strutters Ball" live in the studio on Friday. The band features snare drummer and leader Oscar Washington, Jr., Mark "Tuba" Smith on tuba, Edward Reed and Julius Lewis on saxophones, and Jay Galle on the bass drum.
