The legendary Mardi Gras Indian Big Chief Tootie Montana was the subject of the documentary Tootie's Last Suit, which covers both his individual story and the larger history of Mardi Gras Indians in New Orleans. We cannot recommend this film enough for anyone interested in this New Orleans tradition. Here's the trailer:

 

Big Chief Victor Harris is celebrating his 50th season masking as a Mardi Gras Indian this year.  Here's a brief profile of the Big Chief produced a couple of years ago.
