Upcoming Shows

1-9pm | In addition to the free narrated tours of Arabi’s Cultural Arts District, led by Parish Historian Bill Hyland, the Fest also includes top notch music, food & drink, sugar giveaways, and a whole lot of sweetness. Musical performances by Christian Serpas & Ghost Town (1pm), The Soul Project Funky Uncle All Stars with Cristian Duque (3pm), and Cameron Dupuy & the Cajun Troubadours (5pm). And as it has each year, the Sugar Fest will close with the music stylings of Old Arabi icon and vocal powerhouse Irene Sage and her band. The chorus from Arabi Elementary will also perform to kick off the event. For those seeking Sugar Fest bragging rights, entries for the dessert competition along with a recipe card (must include sugar!) should be turned in to the judges' table by 1:30 pm. Competitors looking to take part in the wildly popular donut eating contest should be in position for 4:30 pm. Proceeds from the Sugar Fest benefit the Old Arabi Neighborhood Association, a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the history and culture of Old Arabi and promoting the area through community outreach. Joining OANA as major sponsors for the Sugar Festival are Domino Sugar, the Meraux Foundation, and the St. Bernard Office of Tourism.
