The Mid-City Aces are a Cajun trio consisting of 18 year-old accordion master Cameron Dupuy, his dad, Michael Dupuy on guitar, and Gina Forsyth on fiddle. Their music is a fresh, bold, acoustic, and firmly traditional take on the sounds of southern Louisiana. Released in December 2015, Mid-City Aces self-titled album is a direct link into Cajun country from the urban dwellings of New Orleans.

Young Cameron is the star of this album. Born and raised in Kenner, Cameron first took on the accordion at age 11 after spending several years on the guitar. With Hurricane Katrina, their family temporary moved to Lafayette, where Cameron was exposed to more Cajun music than ever before and was immediately hooked on the accordion. In 2008, he began to rapidly learn the songs of his idols Marc Savoy and Aldus Roger. The rest is history, as they say. Cameron truly takes the lead in this group of talented veteran musicians. His accordion playing stands out on nearly every track of the album.

The trio hits on a number of Cajun classics in this 14-track album, including 'Eunice Two Step.' The music takes a more mournful turn with 'I'll Be Lonely' and 'La valse de la belle.' 'Madeline' and 'Breaux Bridge Hot Step' are joyfully danceable while the 'Pardon Waltz' takes on a romantic vibe. They even have just a touch of rock'n'roll in 'Aces Rock.'

The Mid-City Aces are frequent guests on WWOZ's Cajun and Zydeco Show on Sunday afternoons. Listen in from noon to 2p each week to hear all the latest and classic Cajun and Zydeco music from hosts Charles Laborde and Jim Hobbs.
