Aurora Nealand and Tom McDermott have performed together at Buffa's on Esplanade each Thursday for years, but had never recorded with each other until now. The multi-instrumentalist and pianist's new album, City of Timbres, came out in April, and covers everything from traditional New Orleans jazz to the more worldly sounds of Latin America. Both are veteran players in groups and venues throughout New Orleans. Nealand also plays with her own group, The Royal Roses, as well as Panorama Jazz Band. McDermott regularly performs with Meschiya Lake, and maintains his own solo gigs, too.
McDermott has a track-by-track breakdown of the album with extensive and informative descriptions on his website: http://mcdermottmusic.com/city-of-timbres-aurora-nealand-and-tom-mcdermott/.
The CD is available at Louisiana Music Factory's brick-and-mortar store, as well as online. Click here to view on LMF's website: http://www.louisianamusicfactory.com/shop/compact-disc/aurora-nealandtom-mcdermott-city-of-timbres/.
