As an African American woman who sang, wrote most of her own songs, and played a lead instrument (in her case, left handed guitar), Barbara Lynn was something of a rarity early in her career. In this 1966 TV appearance on the short-lived TV show The !!! Beat, whose house band was lead by Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown, Lynn performs her 1965 hit "It's Better To Have It." She performed at Jazz Fest in 2008, and she's in the lineup for this October's Ponderosa Stomp.
