WWOZ works to bring the sounds of New Orleans to the world. This summer, we're heading to the Midwest and the East Coast to do just that with two special events featuring some of the best acts in New Orleans today.

On June 19-21, we'll be onhand at the Bayou Boogaloo in Norfolk, Virginia. This festival has been supplanting New Orleans into Norfolk each summer for the last 26 years. The stellar lineup includes the Hot 8 Brass Band, Hurray for the Riff Raff, Big Sam's Funky Nation, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Meschiya Lake, and many others. There is also plenty of New Orleans food served up (crawfish, jambalaya, gumbo, oysters, alligator sausage, beignets...). To see the full lineup, and check out who will be gracing the WWOZ Stage, click here: http://www.wwoz.org/support/norfolk-va-bayou-boogaloo.

On July 2, we'll be at the Metro in Chicago for a co-presentation with Grateful Dead drummer Mickey Hart of the cheekily titled "Busted on Bourbon Street, a Journey to New Orleans," featuring Ivan Neville, Papa Mali, Big Chief Monk Boudreaux, Tony Hall, Willie Green, and Marc "Buddha" Balsam. This show is a benefit for WWOZ as well as a pre-party to the very last three “Fare Thee Well” concerts by the Grateful Dead, scheduled for July 3, 4 and 5 at Soldier Field. TIckets for this special night are available here: http://www.clubtix.com/tmns-busted-on-bourbon-street-tickets-383901.

Looking forward to seeing all the East Coast and Chicago-area Guardians of the Groove at these events!
