Son House, "Preaching the Blues", 1967

Born in the Mississippi Delta near Clarksdale, blues legend Eddie James "Son" House (1902-1988) spent a good deal of his childhood in Louisiana, eventually in Algiers/New Orleans, but first near Tallulah in Madison Parish. His brief introduction to "Preaching the Blues" in the video below recounts an episode from young adulthood in adjacent East Carroll Parish. He "preached for long time" there and eventually made peace with the idea of "preaching the blues".
