Like New Orleans; Seattle and Portland are geographically isolated port cities that have always created their own unique sound.  Unlike New Orleans, the primarily caucasian populations of Seattle to Portland, often tuned their ears to the largest closest city (Los Angeles) for their inspiration.  (Can you imagine Fats listening to Tampa or Houston for inspiration?)

Sure everyone can agree that Jimi Hendrix, Nirvana and "that grunge" sound is Seattle but less obvious is the area's impact on early rock and roll.  Bands like The Wailers, Kingsmen, Paul Revere and the Raiders, The Sonics, The Ventures and the singular song "Louie Louie" all are from the NW and surprisingly imbedded in our musical culture.  Tonight from midnight until 3am, we'll explore the regionalistic music of the Pacific Northwest from 1959 to 1964 and former Louisianan turned Angelo, Richard Berry's recurring influence on this scene.   (There is always seems to be a Louisianan in every roots of good music equation.)

Tonight Saturday December 11th at midnight until 3am Sunday.

Tonight's inspiration comes from Dave Ferrato who yanked my short attention span to David Marsh's classic book tracing how the single song, "Louie Louie" somehow burrowed deeper into Americana culture than any song could ever do today.
