Drew Landry the BP Blues & The Battle of New Orleans

Published on: September 10th, 2010
Drew Landry says it "isn't about me", it's about a song and a benefit. It's about saving South Louisiana and the Gulf Coast from washing away. It's about standing up for the people that are the real America, not the greed that leeches the life from the land. It's about getting his message out to the world. The message on the minds and in the hearts of the Cajun breed and the people of the water and the lands of this most Southern of Southern places. A place so verdant and rich with life it could feed the nearly the whole world (if it is preserved!) It's about The BP Blues. A song available right now on I Tunes. 75% of the profits will go to benefit the victims of the BP oil spill. Drew Landry is not only a musician with plenty of talent he is also what I call a hometown activist. A man of the people whose roots run deep and branches reach up to the sky. Today he will be on the show, with his guitar in hand. He will tell you all about the planned events for 9/11. Please tune in this afternoon from 2-4 to hear the details. There will be a meeting at the Chalmette Battlefield, a trip on a riverboat, all cumulating with a benefit concert Saturday night at the downtown Tipitinas. "Tadpole" Henry (the son of "Frogman" Henry) and Michael Juan Nunez are among some of the artists You can buy your tickets and see the line up now, at the online Tipitina's Box Office. http://www.tipitinas.com/calendar.asp This is a benefit for the oil workers, fishermen, and for environmental concerns. pictures above belong/credited to Drew Landry and his family.
