This Thursday, brilliant jazz trombonist Mark McGrain will join Jelly Roll Justice in the studio (Jazz from the Market, 4 to 7 p.m.) to talk about the innovative trio "Plunge". Mark McGrain, saxophonist Tim Green, and bassist James Singleton are three of the Crescent City’s preeminent modern jazz improvisers. DownBeat magazine gave Plunge’s critically acclaimed first CD, "Falling with Grace," four stars with Dan Ouellette writing, “a remarkable debut, at once soulful and vivacious, a refreshing plummet into the deep end of the tonal spectrum.” CD Baby calls Plunge’s new recording, "Dancing on Thin Ice," "contemporary, instrumental jazz that’s smart, witty, and warmly infectious." After our interview Mark will join the rest of the trio at Snug Harbor for the 8 and 10 o'clock shows.
