Summer is here and there is a lot going on for Memorial Day weekend!

1) The Treme/7th Ward Festival returns Friday, Saturday, and Sunday with tons of local talent and events celebrating the deeply unique and vibrant cultures of these two neighborhoods. Check out the full offerings this year, including a ton of amazing free music

2) Zulu's 108th annual second line parade was rained out last weekend so catch them this Saturday instead. Money Wasters will also step out this weekend, hitting the streets on Sunday afternoon-- this one's always a showstopper. Both route sheets are available from WWOZ's Takin' It To The Streets.

3) The 3rd Annual Slidell Jazz & Blues Festival will be held Saturday, May 27 from 3-10p. Performers this year will be The Big E Brass Band, New Suit Band, Stephanie Jordan, Astral Project, and Christone "Kingfish" Ingram.

4) The New Orleans Musicians Clinic is hosting "Remedy: Mind/Body Wellness Community Skillshare & Market" at the Music Box Village on Sunday, May 28. They'll also be conducting pre-registration for new patients on site for musicians and cultural workers in need of healthcare services. Admission is free. The event features healing practitioners of all kinds sharing knowledge, goods, skills, and connections to resources. The Music Box is located at 4557 N. Rampart St.

5) Birdfoot Festival starts on Tuesday, May 30. This one is for folks looking for something a bit different out of their festival experience-- Birdfoot is chamber music with a New Orleans flavor, conducted at historic venues throughout the greater New Orleans area. Check out these photo and audio highlights from Birdfoot 2015 from photographer Ryan Hodgson-Rigsbee.
