The 2017 Louisiana Cajun-Zydeco Festival, presented by the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation, happens in Armstrong Park on Saturday, June 24 and Sunday, June 25. Get your dancing shoes on and clear out that stomach because there's some hot tunes and good eats.
NOTE: We'll be doing a live broadcast from the Louisiana Cajun-Zydeco Festival on Saturday, June 24 starting at 2p. Details here.
Check out the lineup at the bottom of the page-- this year the fest welcomes back two illustrious performers who haven't graced this particular stage in awhile: the legendary D.L. Menard with the Jambalaya Cajun Band and Grammy winner Chubby Carrier & the Bayou Swamp Band. The lineup also feature a number of other fan favorites including Geno Delafose & French Rockin’ Boogie, Lost Bayou Ramblers, Les Freres Michot, Dwayne Dopsie & the Zydeco Hellraisers, and Bruce Daigrepont's Cajun Band.
NEW THIS YEAR
Ever wonder how Cajun file powder – the spice that makes gumbo taste like gumbo – is made? Or how Cajun accordions are built? For the first time, we are presenting live demonstrations of these and other Louisiana traditions in the new Folk Life Area in the historic Congo Square section of Armstrong Park.
Also new this year is a food area in Congo Square just for desserts – including Italian ice, popsicles, ice cream and other cool treats. Louisiana oysters, shrimp, catfish, crab, boudin and alligator are also on the menu in the non-dessert area.
