Video: Jimmy "Duck" Holmes at Blues & BBQ Fest

Published on: May 17th, 2017

Jimmy "Duck" Holmes, 69, is one of the last blues musicians known for what is labeled "the Bentonia sound" made most famous by Skip James. He is also the proprietor of one of the oldest juke joints in Mississippi, the Blue Front in Bentonia (population 440). In the mid-2000s he began performing blues actively after many years of performing casually, and has since garnered several awards and many accolades.

Check out a song from his performance at the Crescent City Blues & BBQ Fest last fall below.
