1) It's Mother's Day weekend and two clubs are hosting events to celebrate all the special moms in your life. On Sunday, Original Big 7 will roll with their annual Mother's Day Second Line Parade-- get the route sheet from WWOZ's Takin' It To The Streets.

Also on Sunday, DJ Captain Charles, Brass-A-Holics, Amanda Shaw, Shamarr Allen, and more will perform at the Zulu On The Bayou Mothers Day Festival, 11a-7p.

2) Irma Thomas will be performing at her regular Mother's Day Celebration at the Audubon Zoo on Sunday, as well. Robin Barnes will open. Moms of all ages get complimentary admission into the Zoo on Mother’s Day. This event is always popular, so expedite your entry by purchasing and printing tickets at home. Complimentary admission tickets for moms are available at the front gate when you arrive.

3) The Spring Record Raid is happening at the New Orleans Jazz Market on Saturday, May 13 from 10a-5p. The Record Raid is New Orleans' largest record show with vendors from all over the region selling LPs, 45s, CDs and more. Big ticket to dollar bin, rare to run-of-the-mill, no matter how much of a music nerd you are, there's something in those boxes with your name on it.

4) The Crawfish Mambo cookoff and music festival on the lake happens Saturday, May 13 from 11a-6p. Sample all-you-can-eat hot boiled crawfish from over 50 competing teams. Big Sam's Funky Nation headlines the music lineup.

5) Get out of the city for a day or two by attending the 43rd annual Cochon de Lait Festival in Mansura May 11-14. Lil Nathan & the Zydeco Big Timers will perform.
