1) French Quarter Fest is here! Beautiful weather is forecasted for the entire festival weekend and WWOZ is on hand broadcasting live from the Jack Daniels Stage on Friday and Saturday with artists like Panorama Jazz Band, Meschiya Lake, Corey Henry's Treme Funktet, The Soul Rebels, King James & the Special Men and much more. Check out our full broadcast schedule.

2) French Quarter Fest is more than great music-- there's also a solid local film lineup at Le Petit Theatre du Vieux Carre and wonderful speaker series titled 'Let Them Talk: Conversations on Louisiana Music' on the third floor of the Old U.S. Mint.

3) Single Ladies are stepping out Uptown on Sunday at 1p! Get the route sheet from WWOZ's Takin' It To The Streets.

4) The folks at the New Orleans Airlift/Music Box are up to more interesting and unusual musical performance tactics this weekend-- this time to bring attention to many of the issues plaguing Louisiana's coast. On Saturday at 4p, they'll present “New Water Music” on Lake Pontchartrain near the Seabrook Bridge boat launch. The event will bring hundreds of musicians together, fusing new and traditional music, procession, water culture, and pageantry while galvanizing listeners to save Louisiana’s coast.

5) A little fun for the aerial-lover in us all-- the New Orleans Recreation Department Commission is hosting Kite Day at Milne Playground from 10a-2p on Saturday. Bring a kite and join the swooping and swaying crowd!
