New Breed Brass Band

The New Breed Brass Band comes by their expertise genetically: Leader Jenard Andrews is the son of trumpeter James “Twelve” Andrews and his uncle is world-wide phenom Trombone Shorty. Indeed, it took some coaching from Shorty to goad the New Breed into finding their own sound, and now the band has developed a unique blend of brass band sound inflected with New Orleans-style bounce and hip-hop, Caribbean grooves, and modern R & B ala Bruno Mars and Silk Sonic. Their recent album “Made in New Orleans includes the single “Drop It How Ya Feel It” with Trombone Shorty, Wild Wayne, and the late bounce master 5th Ward Weebie, and “Treme Island” with Grammy-winning sax master Jeff Coffin from the Dave Mathews Band.
