Jorge Luis Pacheco

One of the most renowned young musicians from the new generation of jazz and the piano in Cuba. Pacheco is the winner of the first prize at the International Competition of Young jazz musicians (JoJazz 2007). He is a pianist, percussionist, composer and musical director.
 
A graduate of piano and percussion, Pacheco composes works for solo piano, string orchestras as well as percussion and piano concerto for piano as well as symphony orchestras. He was a professor at the Conservatory Symphonic Timpani "William Thomas." He is currently completing his 5th year studying composition at the Institute of Superior Arts in Havana where he is pursuing his masters degree.
 
Pacheco has shared the stage with great musicians like Bobby Carcasess, Javier Zalba, Orlando Sanchez, Haydee Milanes, Pablo Milanes, Aldo Lopez Gavilan, Harold Lopez Nusa, Rui López Nusa, Amadito Valdes, Joaquín Betancourt, Tete Caturla, (both members of the Buena Vista Social Club) Tony Perez, Alexander Abreu, Ali Jackson, Orlando Maraca Valle, Miguel Zenon, Rolando Luna, Robert Sund and Stanley Clark,  among others.
 
He has participated in concerts and festivals in Cuba, Germany, Spain, Italy, Barbados, Brazil, Canada and Switzerland. In 2009, competing with 114 contestants from Europe, Asia, America and the United States, Pacheco was among the sixteen finalists in the International Jazz Competition in Montreux, Switzerland.
