Jamal Batiste

Jamal Batiste comes from the storied Batiste musical family, which includes father David, a music teacher and member of The Gladiators, older brother Russell, a top-notch drummer, and his cousin Jon – yes, that Jon Batiste. Jamal Batiste loved the drums from the age of three, and through the family band, The Batiste Family Band, he was soon playing all styles and in a variety of settings. His band, the Jamal Batiste Band, offers a strong blend of New Orleans funk, hip-hop, soul, gospel, and R & B. They have toured the world and have had a number of hits, including the 2017 chart-topping “It’s A Beautiful World.” Batiste can be seen in the Chadwick Boseman-starring James Brown film, “Get On Up,” and has performed with a top-shelf list of musicians, including Trombone Shorty, Leo Nocentelli, Art Neville, and George Porter Jr. (of the Meters) and, of course, Jon Batiste.
