WWOZ volunteer Mikayla Braun sings on stage at Chickie Wah Wah.

We've said it before, but it bears repeating: WWOZ has the greatest group of volunteers in the world, and without them, this Whole Entire Thing would be impossible.

So on Saturday, December 13, we celebrated them at Chickie Wah Wah, with music and food, staff and friends...

They deserve every bit of appreciation for helping WWOZ Guard the Groove for another year.

Thanks to Volunteer Coordinator Maryse Dejean for putting the evening together, Chickie Wah Wah for providing the place, and Sugar Bear (with an assist from a few of our volunteers!) for the golden grooves.

Thanks also to volunteers George Ingmire for gumbo, Grace Perrine for brownies, and Dennis "Big D" Schaibly for pulled pork.

I’d love to hoard all the credit, but you know…you’re only as strong as the people who push the cart with you. I'd like to thank ALL my colleagues and the volunteers who helped make this event a success.

I would like to extend a special “Thank You” to Jorge Fuentes, Crystal Gross, Dwayne Breashears, Beau “Here Are the Checks” Royster, Lauren Del Rio, Russell Shelton, Duane Williams, Melanie Merz, Mary Lambert, Julie Jenkins, Leslie and Joe Cooper, Andrea Foreman, Sakura Kone, Louis Holmes, Karen Paige, Rick Wilkof, Veronica Cromwell, Dennis and Libby Schaibly, and George Ingmire.

Every event that involves eating and drinking happens because of our own Chris Wells. And we have Chris because of his talented and beautiful wife Nancy. Her career as an attorney never leaves enough time for her to volunteer at OZ the way she wants to. So, Chris always puts in that extra special push because he’s volunteering for two. Thanks to Nancy for the gift of Chris.

Finally, on behalf of the entire staff, thanks to all of our amazing volunteers! Yup, it's a BIG cart to push this WWOZ!
