CONGO SQUARE AFRICAN MARKETPLACE - Filled with music, art and energy, the Congo Square African Marketplace is alive with the culture and spirit which helped create the jazz and heritage for which New Orleans is known. You will find an array of local, national and international artisans exhibiting ancient crafting techniques, as well as modern variations and adaptations of those techniques. Enjoy the exchange of wares, customs and ideas that embodies a true marketplace experience as you encounter people and art from throughout the African Diaspora.

Through a variety of artistic media, offered by the state’s finest traditional and contemporary artists, find outstanding Creole and Acadian furniture, stunning photography of our famous musicians and cultural icons, symbolic fleur-de-lis jewelry and much more. You will be unable to resist possessing a distinctive tangible piece of Louisiana’s unique culture.This diverse gathering of emerging and established artisans from across the state is right at home next to the incredible music at the Fais Do-Do stage, and ongoing traditional folk demonstrations in the Louisiana Folklife Village.
