New Orleans celebrated Louis Armstrong's 111th birthday at Satchmo SummerFest 2012 with music, dancing, second lines, fantastic umbrellas, and fabulous weather! Two stages at the Old U.S. Mint showcased trumpeters and bands with widely diverse origins and styles. As unique as they are, all the performers were riding high on a musical path trailblazed by the great Satchmo himself.

The Satchmo Salute second line took place Sunday featuring three brass bands and Zulu floats. The parade started at St. Augustine's in Tremé and headed down Frenchmen on its way to a jubilant arrival at the festival. WWOZ photographers were there to capture the spirit of the festival and we've assembled this gallery of our favorite moments!
