Our guest this week on “Yeah, You Right” is bassist Jesse Boyd, one of the most in-demand musicians in the Crescent City, whether it’s in the recording studio or on the bandstand with the likes of Charmaine Neville, Ellis Marsalis, Jeremy Davenport, and Bob French.

Boyd’s gospel beginnings in South Carolina gave way to interest in jazz and rock, and he eventually got his Masters in Jazz Performance at the University of New Orleans. Boyd also feels he owes a debt to his teacher, New Orleans bass great Bill Huntington. He’s now a bass teacher himself at Loyola University and Delgado Community College.

The latest album by Jesse Boyd is called True Stories and emphasizes modern jazz and film-like scoring. His discography also includes albums with Ingrid Lucia, Michael Pellera & Joe Dyson, and his own band.

We borrowed him for a moment to see how he'd answer our standard YYR questions.
