In our "Yeah, You Right!" interview series, we toss 20 rapid-fire questions at some of the New Orleans music scene's brightest stars. Some of their answers will surprise you, so sit back and enjoy the ride!

Trumpeter Mario Abney is one of the most soft-spoken musicians in New Orleans off the bandstand. On the gig, however, he's a fiery force on his horn, often shouting encouragement to his bandmates whether performing at Jazz Fest or in the Balcony Music Club. And if you think he's a one-trick pony, guess again: This talented multi-instrumentalist can often be seen on the bandstand behind the drums and at the keyboard. He's played with stars like Wynton Marsalis and Erykah Badu, but his own contemporary jazz group — the Mario Abney Quintet — is soaring sky high.
