Entergy New Orleans is a proud new sponsor of WWOZ's Cuttin' Class, a series of live in-studio performances by middle and high school students from the Greater New Orleans area. We welcome a new group of students into our studio each month for a half-hour radio program spotlight on some of the area's up-and-coming musicians and the critical role of youth music education.

Entergy's generous $25,000 grant will allow us to continue to show support for the dedicated educators who help guide these young musicians each and every day. WWOZ and Entergy recognize that our city's musicians usually begin their careers in the school band program, guided by dedicated educators who are among our city's unsung heroes. Cuttin' Class is our way to highlight the important work being done by educators and students across the city each and every day. In addition to providing a performance platform for the student bands, WWOZ provides $1,000 to each band director to be used at their discretion, often serving to purchase or repair desperately needed instruments.

Find out more about this wonderful program, including highlights from the 2016-17 school year so far (and when the next episode will air) at our Cuttin' Class page.
