On this week’s program, we visit Blaine Kern aka Mr. Mardi Gras, who has been building Mardi Gras floats for over 60 years. Find out why he turned down his hero, Walt Disney, when he was offered a job.

We catch up with the Phunny Phorty Phellows as they kick off Carnival season with their 12th Night tradition: riding on the Saint Charles streetcar line from streetcar barn Uptown off Carrollton all the way to Lee Circle.

The most delicious part of Carnival season in New Orleans is King Cake. This week we sample King Cakes from two bakeries: Cake Café and Croissant D'Or. This photo is the Pear & Goat Cheese King Cake from Cake Café. MmmMmm!

The music on this week’s program includes the Hot 8 Brass Band, Kermit Ruffins, Big Chief Monk Boudreaux, Cyril Neville and many more.
