AWE (Ask Wonder Explore) Microschool invites families and local media to an exciting, hands-on Open House from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, at Lakeview Presbyterian Church, located at 5914 Canal Blvd., offering a first-hand look at its progressive K–8 learning model.
AWE’s mission is to cultivate knowledge in STEM, technology, and social justice while building a nurturing space where students are encouraged to take risks, make mistakes, and innovate. Through strong community connections, personalized support, and inclusive practices, AWE aims to make the world a more equitable, viable, and joyful place to live.
This event will serve as the end-of-summer-camp party of AWE summer camp as well, but it is a great time for families, new and seasoned, to learn more about the microschool model, which is a newer aspect of the AWE community.
Serving students in Grades K–8, AWE Microschool combines academic excellence with a deep commitment to equity and student voice. The school’s project-based learning model integrates:
--Individualized learning plans
--STEAM-powered, tech-forward curriculum
--Tech-forward, social-justice-minded
--Social-emotional learning and collaboration
--Weekly field trips and community engagement
--A full-day program (8:30am–3:00pm)
--A low 8:1 student-teacher ratio
--Hybrid, part-time, and full-time options
“Our explorers are awesome and amazing.” says Dr. Sam Kreuscher, Founder and CEO of AWE and Director of the Microschool. “Whether you're an existing homeschool parent, a parent who finds traditional school is not working for your family, or if you're looking for a school community, come check if AWE is right for you and your explorer.”
Families don't have to wait for the event. Enrollment is currently open for the 2025-26 school year, which begins on Sept. 2. But the event is a great way to see the school and learn more about the program.
